Is Your Personal Trainer Qualified or Just Certified?
An investigative report by Inside Edition revealed a vast difference between qualified personal trainers and those merely certified with credentials that took only hours to obtain. With no state regulations, it is up to the consumer to beware.
There are no state regulations or licensing of Personal Trainers. It is up to the consumer to find out how much experience and education their trainer has obtained. Pushing through the pain is not the way to train; in fact this tactic may cause permanent injury. A trainer with the understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the body is much more equipped to bring good judgment into a training routine.
Two years ago Lexington Healing Arts Academy (LHAA) recognized the growing need for qualified trainers and began to design an intensive hands on curriculum. Already established as an accredited school for Massage Therapy and Yoga, Executive Director Bill Booker worked with educated and experienced Personal Trainers to map out a well-rounded and thorough program. The goal being an education that produced knowledgeable professionals who could design an exercise routine for each individual’s needs; taking into consideration injuries, limitations and personal preferences. LHAA and its staff continue to refine and hone their program to meet the needs and safety of the consumer.
The Academy is located at 272 Southland Drive. For more information call 859-252-5656 or visit the website at www.lexingtonhealingarts.com.
