Sept. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- The maturation of the boomers and the never ending seeking of looking and feeling better has ignited a boom in the field of fitness training.  However, with this growth, consumers must beware.  Becoming a “Certified Trainer” is as easy as buying something on Ebay.  Inside Edition went undercover to discover how easy it was for an inexperienced person to not only get certified, but also hired as a personal trainer in a matter of a day.  Click below for the full report.

There are no state regulations or licensing of Personal Trainers.  It is up to the consumer to find out how much experience and education their trainer has obtained.  Pushing through the pain is not the way to train; in fact this tactic may cause permanent injury.  A trainer with the understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the body is much more equipped to bring good judgment into a training routine.

Two years ago Lexington Healing Arts Academy (LHAA) recognized the growing need for qualified trainers and began to design an intensive hands on curriculum.    Already established as an accredited school for Massage Therapy and Yoga, Executive Director Bill Booker worked with educated and experienced Personal Trainers to map out a well-rounded and thorough program.  The goal being an education that produced knowledgeable professionals who could design an exercise routine for each individual’s needs; taking into consideration injuries, limitations and personal preferences.  LHAA and its staff continue to refine and hone their program to meet the needs and safety of the consumer.

The Academy is located at 272 Southland Drive.  For more information call 859-252-5656 or visit the website at
