Anytime Fitness in San Juan Capistrano Takes a Stand Against Childhood Obesity
Anytime Fitness hosts a plaza wide event for the National Family Health and Fitness Day. The event will include a day filled with free fitness classes, a whole food scavenger hunt for kid and a free course on reading food labels.
Over the past 30 years, the childhood obesity rate in America has almost tripled. The health and well-being of future generations is undeniably at risk and Anytime Fitness in San Juan Capistrano is taking action by launching a local Campaign for creating awareness of the current Childhood Obesity epidemic. According to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry "If one parent is obese, there is a 50 percent chance that the children will also be obese. However, when both parents are obese, the children have an 80 percent chance of being obese."
The goal of the campaign is to encourage parents to set a positive example through adapting healthy habits of exercise and nutrition. Anytime Fitness is offering a program that consists of a free 30 day membership, a private session with a personal trainer and access to a nutritional planning website. Additional resources include classes on reading food labels and fitness orientations on the basics of exercise programming.
September marks the start of a new school year, and there has never been a better time for parents to set up a regular fitness routine and get back to the basics with nutritional meal planning strategies. Providing 24 hour access, unlimited group fitness classes and nutritional coaching, Anytime Fitness offers real solutions for those looking to achieve healthier lifestyle habits.
Creating awareness of the childhood obesity epidemic, and educating the community on ways to get involved with changing the food industry, is another goal of the campaign. Anytime Fitness will be providing access to sign petitions for healthier school lunches, as well as encouraging the support of local farmers. Trainer and certified nutritionist, Brooke Warner, will also be giving out information on reading food labels and understanding nutrition facts. “Nutrition and exercise are a vital part of a healthy lifestyle, and it is not that people are uneducated as much as they are misled as to what a nutritious diet consists of” said Warner.
The week long campaign will kick off with a Fall into Fitness event on Sept 22nd at the Marbella Plaza in San Juan Capistrano. The open house will consist of a day filled with free group classes and strength training foundation clinics. Anytime fitness will also be giving away a free 5 Week Run program along with the 30 day trial membership for anyone interested in training for the upcoming fall races. Encouraging people to sign up for the Halloween 5k and Kids 1K taking place on October 28th in Dana Point, the first team in training program will launch Monday September 24th. The Campaign will come to an end on September 29th with a plaza wide community event for the National Family Health and Fitness Day. By taking part in the national health observances, Anytime Fitness is looking forward to September being the beginning of an ongoing effort to create change for a healthier next generation.
