Extensive research has been conducted regarding the relationship between telomeres and aging over the past two decades.  Telomeres are protective structures at the ends of chromosomes which prevent degradation and keep the linear DNA molecules from clumping together, thus allowing the cells to replicate efficiently. Medical research on aging has identified telomere length as one of the markers which indicate longevity. When humans are born, the telomeres are long, but years of constant replication takes a toll on these protective caps and they gradually become shorter and frayed.  Eventually the cells are no longer capable of healthy regeneration and they die.

Research also discovered an interesting human phenomenon; while all cells within the body contain the exact same genetic code, telomeres in the reproductive cells do not get shorter.  In 1984 scientists Carol Greider and Elizabeth Blackburn discovered a human enzyme called telomerase which maintains telomeres and can actually restore these shorted ends. to their original length.  Together with Jack Szostak these researchers received the 2009 Noble Peace Prize in Physiology and Medicine for their discoveries regarding the relationship between telomeres and aging.

What researchers found was that the telomerase producing gene is suppressed in every human cell except the egg and sperm.  With this information the search was on for a way to stimulate other cells with telomerase.  In a breakthrough experiment prematurely aging mice were injected with telomerase.  Prior to the injections the rodents showed multiple signs of aging including grey hair, wrinkled skin and brain shrinkage.  In the mice that were treated with the enzyme, the signs of aging began to disappear.  Hair grew in dark and thick and over time the brain size expanded to match that of young mice.

While there are many additional factors which affect aging in humans, such as nutrition, environmental contamination and obesity, cell rejuvenation through telomerase activation offers incredible potential.  Currently the only way to accomplish this is with the ground-breaking supplement TA-65.  TA-65 is a natural supplement derived from the Chinese herb Astragalus. The product has been used by hundreds of people since 2005 with no negative side effects.  In fact, customers report improvements in energy, appearance, sexual performance, mental clarity and vision.

Those anecdotal observations have been backed by clinical studies as well.  When the supplement was introduced the creators monitored the first 100 participants over a one-year time span.  At the beginning of the study blood tests were conducted to measure the length to each person’s telomeres.  At the conclusion of the year new measurements were taken and the results of the two tests were compared.  These proved that TA-65 had not only lengthened the telomeres, but also bolstered the immune system causing a significant decline in senescent cytotoxic T cells.
