Children's Literacy Program Collaborates For Youth Advancement
Children’s Discovery Center is now partnering with local children’s literacy program, ‘Eager Readers, Brighter Writers’, founded by children’s book author and literacy coach, Sabrina K. Carpenter.
Carpenter has been conducting story times at Children’s Discovery Center for over 2 years. After discussing the possibility of bringing her entire literacy program to the students, CDC owner, Mary Jane Mills, agreed that it would make a perfect collaboration.
Through ‘Eager Readers, Brighter Writers’, the students will meet once a week in small, personalized groups with focus on early literacy preparation, word and language games, interactive reading activities and positive reinforcement to provide advanced literacy skills for school readiness.
“My workshops are designed to be fun and I knew ‘Eager Readers, Brighter Writers’ would be a great fit at Children’s Discovery Center. Mary Jane has such an amazing dedication to providing the best educational resources for the kids that attend CDC. She is a great asset to our local youth and to us, as parents!” Carpenter states.
Carpenter founded ‘Eager Readers, Brighter Writers’ in 2010 and has been hired across the country, sharing her passion for implementing strong literacy skills within children of all ages. Carpenter’s own children, Micah and Isaiah, who are approaching 3 and 4 years old, are prime examples of how time and dedication can make children emphatic about reading and writing.
