Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW) Announces Fall Classes Begin Oct. 1, 2012

The Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW), a non-profit organization which brings after-school art, music, language arts, & cultural programs to Chester, Mendham & surrounding areas, announces registration is open for fall classes which start Oct. 1st.

Sept. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- CHESTER, NJ – Schools have opened and so has registration for the Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW), the non-profit organization which brings after-school art, music, language arts, and cultural programs to youth and seniors in Chester, Mendham and surrounding areas. Fall classes start the week of October 1, 2012 and will culminate with its Fall Showcase in January 2013. Most classes run a full eight weeks and are held at the Dickerson and Bragg Elementary Schools and Black River Middle School in Chester, and in Mendham at both Mendham Township and Mendham Borough Elementary and Middle Schools.

In addition, MCAW will also be offering AM “Get Fit” at all four elementary schools in the Mt. Olive School District.

Beyond its numerous music, art, dance and technology classes, new this year are Lango Languages for Kids, Robotics, Rock Band Elementary, Archery, Mad Science and Ballet and Tap to name a few.  For class schedules, availability and to registration, please visit www.mcartsworkshop.com.

In addition to providing outstanding music and art programs, MCAW has also partnered with Chester Recreation to offer more arts and sports related programs. Through Chester Arts & Recreation (CA&R), they will host a number of events in the fall including the second annual Halloween Workshop celebrating art, music, family and spooky fun October 26 - October 27, 2012; the Great Pumpkin Carve Out contest in the Haunted Poll Garden on October 27, 2012; and ArtFest, a program designed to provide children K-5 a variety of activities during the school break November 8 - 9, 2012.

MCAW is also in the process of raising funds to create a Home for the Arts on property in Chester donated to the organization by Chester Township Mayor Bill Cogger. About the Morris County Arts Workshop
Founded in 2003 by Jane Shatz, a Juilliard School of Music dance alumna and Chester resident, the Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW) is a non-profit group created to nurture and promote the love for the arts in children of all ages.  The program is community based and offers a wide variety of classes from musical instrument lessons to voice to painting to yoga to language and martial arts.  Classes are currently held in Chester and Mendham public schools.  There are two sessions per year which culminate with a special Showcase performance and art display in the fall and spring.  In addition, MCAW runs five weeks of summer camp for pre-kindergarten to age 15.
