Sept. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Managing Director, Robin Bush of Local social care provider, Living Ambitions, based in Lostock Hall, Preston, has praised the 2012 Paralympics for helping to raise the awareness of people with learning disabilities to the general public. New research shows eight in ten British adults say that Paralympics 2012 has had a positive impact on the way disabled people are viewed by the public.

“The success of the GB Paralympics Team” says Robin” has helped many of the general public change their attitudes and perceptions towards those with learning and physical disabilities. Paralympic Organisers,” adds Robin, “have hailed the games as a 'seismic effect in shifting public attitudes' and of “lifting the clouds of limitation. We couldn’t agree more”

Robin and his team at Living Ambitions recently launched an annual awareness campaign regarding preventing and stopping ‘Learning Disability Hate Crime.’ The campaign supported by *various local organisations including Lancashire Constabulary and Local MP Mark Hendrick, to name but a few, began with an information and fun event at the Preston Guild Hall on Saturday 16th June

“To echo the sentiments of Lord Coe” says Robin “The challenge is to maintain and expand on this positive wave of awareness to produce ‘sustainable and meaningful change’ in society. Living Ambitions are committed” adds Robin “to developing this change for the benefit of the people we support, the people who are in the wider circles of support and the general public, especially the young”

Robin and his team are now planning to generate more understanding and support on the back of this positive awareness by launching the 2nd phase of the ‘Learning Disability Hate Campaign’  this Autumn/Winter and developing a touring programme of workshops and discussions at local Sixth Forms, FE Colleges and UCLAN
