The Key To Sell Online From Your Webshop In Malaysia

A webshop alone will not draw in large crowds of customers. You will need extra content in order to increase the chances of your website appearing in searches.

Sept. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Creating a webshop is the first step to sell online in Malaysia, but it is by no means the last step. There is much work to be done after the webshop has been set up, the most important of which is drawing traffic to your webshop.

First of all, rid yourself of the idea that people will come across your webshop much like they do for an actual shop lot. This is certainly not the case when you sell online and therefore you need to arm yourself with a new set of strategies to reach out to your target audience. That said, you should still hold on to core business practices like prompt and friendly customer service, good product quality and simple honesty.

Since there are huge online retail stores such as Amazon and eBay which sell basically almost everything, your webshop should aim to sell a narrow range of products which are difficult to find elsewhere. In other words, target a niche market when you sell online. For example, if you want to sell clothes, you might want to narrow down your range to those that are hard to find in Malaysia, e.g. knitwear. This frees you from the need to compete with impossible competitors.

You should also bear in mind that most people shop via search engines nowadays, so you need to work with this system to sell online. A webshop alone will not draw in large crowds of customers. You will need extra content in order to increase the chances of your website appearing in searches. In fact, you might even want to make the extra content the main focus of your website while having a webshop as a supplementary page. Running with the knitwear example, you can have a website about knitting, how to care for knitwear, knitwear fashion and so on, and then link that to your shop. This will also lend extra credibility to your webshop since you will appear to be very knowledgeable about your product.

Of course, do not forget an important tool you’ll need to sell online -- social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are excellent ways to promote your webshop in Malaysia. Word of mouth used to be one of the most powerful advertising tools; it has now been replaced by the “Share” button. People tend to trust the judgements of their friends so set up a Facebook page or a Twitter account and get people to spread news of your shop around. Be sure that you constantly update your pages and Tweets to keep your customers interested.

You can also turn to paid online advertising, such as Google Adsense, if you have the resources. These might make your customers a tad annoyed since no one really likes being relentlessly spammed by flashing banners. However, it does increase awareness of your products, and familiarity is sometimes enough to sway buyers’ decisions in your favour.

Lastly, be sure to keep your customers in Malaysia interested in your webshop, whether it is a constant flow of fresh content in your website, exciting promotions, quirky twist to your products, and so on. Also, keep your product and service quality at a high level, because nothing turns them away faster than bad treatment and subpar products.
