Follow on Google News | Oops! 4 Book Award Mistakes and How to Avoid ThemA call for entries in the 2012 Book of the Year Awards program.
By: ForeWord Reviews Awards give publishers and their authors newfound selling opportunities, and heightened interest and buzz about a book increases sales. Give your title a boost, sign up for the 2012 Book of the Year Awards program today. All titles published in 2012 by small, micro, or university presses are eligible to enter. It’s $99/per title. A few book award gleanings to pass along: *Choose the right genre category—If your title is a Memoir, please don’t enter it in Biography. To help you decide which genre to enter, see our Categories & Descriptions page. And if that doesn’t help you, then call our office for assistance. Our crack editors also keep an eye out for wayward titles. *Send us two copies of your book—We require two copies of your book per category entered. Each title is then reviewed by a bookseller and a librarian, our wonderful judges. Did you know our judges are volunteers? It’s true. Many think our judges drive BMWs to pick up their books. In fact, most probably drive something more reasonably priced. Regardless of their wheels, all of our judges are passionate about books and support indie presses and their authors, and that’s why they return year after year to help judge the book awards. *Attend the awards ceremony, it’s fun!—Winners will be announced at ALA’s Annual Conference in Chicago, June 27–July 2, 2013. It’s an energized atmosphere with plenty of anticipation, good cheer, and high-fives. *Enter sooner rather than later—The deadline is January 15, 2013, right after the busy holiday season, and it can sneak up on you before you know it. I can’t tell you how many calls I receive January 16. (I should keep a log.) So don’t miss out: enter today! Present your voice, your book to a broader audience.
