FOOD Share, Feeding America and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf combat hunger through special fall promotion

Ventura County's FOOD Share to receive portion of proceeds through seasonal promotion, Sept.24 - Nov. 25
 
Sept. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- (VENTURA COUNTY, Calif.) – As Hunger Action Month in September comes to an end, the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® and Feeding America, a national hunger relief charity, will continue their commitment to fight hunger through their budding partnership with a can’t-miss promotion that will run throughout the fall season.

From Monday, Sept. 24, until Sunday, Nov. 25, coffee lovers in Ventura County will feel an extra shot of goodwill when they stop by the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® for their daily pick-me-up. Participating Ventura, Calif. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® locations will donate $1 from the purchase of each Harvest Blend coffee bag and gift card sold to FOOD Share, Ventura County’s local food bank, and Feeding America.

“We are so grateful to be included in this great partnership with the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® and Feeding America,” said FOOD Share CEO, Bonnie Weigel. “Their generous contribution of 75 percent of the total proceeds to our community food bank will ensure the hungry in the community will be well taken care of for the fall and winter months.”

About FOOD Share:
The food bank distributing millions of pounds of food each year to those in need throughout Ventura County, FOOD Share collects and receives food year-round, distributing through more than 150 pantry partner agencies throughout Ventura County, including Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Oak View, Ojai, Oxnard, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Somis, Thousand Oaks, and Ventura.

FOOD Share provides food to more than 74,500 people each month countywide through its partner agencies and multiple programs. Programs include the Senior Brown Bag that provides supplemental nutrition to nearly 2,000 low income seniors, home delivered meals and supplemental groceries through the Oxnard and Ventura Senior Nutrition Programs and, the Kids’ Farmers’ Markets, offering nutrition education, healthy recipe preparation and taste testing and a farmers’ market free fresh produce “shopping experience.”

In 2011, FOOD Share partnered with Ventura County’s Human Services Agency to provide expanded CalFresh enrollment assistance. CalFresh, formerly called food stamps, is the largest federal nutrition assistance program that provides supplemental nutrition assistance to eligible Ventura County residents.
