Sept. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- JAMESTOWN, NC – Wine and Design Triad will be partnering with High Point Regional Health System to present a “Paint It Forward” fundraiser to benefit the LoveLine fund on Saturday, October 13th from 4:00-6:00pm.  The two-hour event will be held at the Millis Health Education Building located at 600 North Elm Street in High Point.  The event is $45 per person and attendees will be painting a cancer awareness ribbon in the color of their choosing.  Wine and Design will be donating 100% of the night’s proceeds to LoveLine.

The LoveLine fund provides financial assistance to any patient actively undergoing cancer treatment at High Point Regional Health System who has a documented financial need. This much needed assistance covers a variety of expenses including utility bills, medications, nutrition supplements, transportation to and from doctor visits, and more. Assistance from LoveLine allows patients to worry less about the financial strains caused by their
illness and focus more on healing.

Wine and Design Triad owners George and Jenny Ragsdale are very supportive of High Point Regional and the LoveLine Program.  On the fourth Friday of every month, the wine and painting party studio sponsors an art class in the Hayworth Cancer Center.  The painting session is open to any cancer patient at High Point Regional free of charge.  The classes are sponsored in memory of George Ragsdale’s mother, Kathy Ragsdale, who lost her battle with cancer in 2005.

It did not take long for word about the art class to spread throughout the hospital and the community. Employees and visitors would stop by the class just to say, “Hello” and see the painting for that month.  After seeing the increased popularity of the class, Jenny Ragsdale came up with the idea to host a fundraiser and open it up to everyone that's ever been affected by cancer and more.

“Wine and Design offers so much more than just an art class,” says April Carty, Event and Gift Specialist with High Point Regional Health System.  “It's a way to let go of whatever stresses you may have and just put it all on the canvas.”

Wine and Design Triad opened its doors in Jamestown in May 2011.  The painting party company provides the canvas, cover-up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew and attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing.  First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pro’s browse the studio’s website to find a painting they would like to replicate.  Sessions are led by local artists that guide participants through a carefully-orchestrated, step-by-step process that promises a finished “masterpiece” at the end of the two-hour session.

“It’s wonderful to be working with April and helping her bring more attention to this wonderful cause,” says Ragsdale.  “Coming to this fundraiser is such a wonderful way to not only do something positive for your community, but also something nice for yourself at the same time.”

Carty adds that fundraisers, like the Wine and Design painting party, are very important to her organization and that the success of High Point Regional Health System rests on the generous support of individuals and organizations that understand what state-of-the-art health care means to a community.  Funds donated to the High Point Regional Foundation provide much needed support for many important patient care programs at High Point Regional Health System.

“We're very excited to be the beneficiary of Paint it Forward. This is such a great opportunity to engage individuals from the community in a fun, creative, and social event that will raise funds for an important cause that affects so many of us,” says Carty.  “We're so thankful for Wine and Design's continued support of our health system. Their support goes far beyond the time, talent, and art supplies that they donate each month. Their cheerful spirit and positive outlook is contagious, and they truly brighten each person's day.”

The LoveLine Cancer Support Program at High Point Regional Health System has offered a wide variety of services to patients for many years. Because of this program, cancer patients and their families have access to financial assistance for crisis necessities not covered by other resources.
