Campus Living Villages sets new standard in student accommodation at University of Bedfordshire

Sept. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Campus Living Village's brand new state-of-the-art student accommodation Wenlock Court at the University of Bedfordshire was officially opened on Tuesday 18 September.

The building was jointly opened by the University's Vice Chancellor Bill Rammell and local MP Gavin Shuker. Councillor Syd Knight, Mayor of Luton and representatives from Beds SU were among the special guests.

Wenlock Court, which comprises 274 en-suite rooms, is Phase Two of the new-build student residence project, which included the opening of Fitzroy Court in 2011 - an investment of some £42 million. The development of student accommodation is part of a wider £180m investment in infrastructure at the University.

The accommodation has been designed and developed by Campus Living Villages in partnership with the University. As a global provider of student accommodation, CLV has brought its experience of operating over 35,000 beds across Australia, New Zealand and the United States to Luton.

Mr Rammell said: "Wenlock Court is the latest phase in the University's commitment to invest in the latest student facilities, a key part in ensuring we provide our students with the best possible University experience. This fantastic new complex means that the University can accommodate more than 1,800 students just within Luton."

Gary continued: "Both Fitzroy and Wenlock Courts have proved popular with residents and all rooms are fully booked for this academic year. We look forward to welcoming our new customers on move in day on 24 September."

The new accommodation includes four social lounges or study rooms, two launderettes, e-learning pods, a private dining and demonstration kitchen, a games room and a gym. There is also a private courtyard between the three blocks at Wenlock Court which enhances the community or Village feel of the accommodation.

Fitzroy and Wenlock Courts combine to create 852 contemporary en-suite rooms for the modern student. Each room has been designed with its resident in mind and offers the option of standard or deluxe rooms in a mix of three to seven bedroom flats or studio rooms.

As manager of all accommodation at Student Village, University of Bedfordshire CLV will also operate a series of events and activities at the Village to ensure that residents can settle in quickly, make friends and feel supported during what for many is their first time away from home.
