HSE Warns Companies for Costs on Breaking of HSE Rules

Sept. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- According to an expert, new insurance laws related to recovery of investigating workplace accidents cost may give financial harass to Scottish insurance firms. Central insurance has said in a statement that new health and safety executive rules of UK may cost thousands of pounds for insurance firms. Businesses and company’s directors can be fined for avoiding health and safety rules according to present HSE rules. HSE is also planning to recover costs from transgressors from October onwards. New rules are needed for companies to put comprehensive risk management process as said by central insurance. According to statistics report of 2010-11 as released by HSE reported number of injured employees in Scotland with 15 fatalities is more than 10,100. Most of such accidents have been noticed in the field of construction, agriculture, waste and recycling sector. According to central insurance, 45 offences were prosecuted in which total of £2 million fine goes against the company’s directors.

Risk manager of central insurance, Martin Gray has said that HSE is facing similar problems as of other federal bodies. That is it needs to provide same service at smaller budget. New laws make it difficult to plan all these things to do. Companies who have breaches the rules have bad news. These companies are liable to pick up the tab for HSE’s costs. This cost may rich up to more than ten thousand pounds in some bigger cases.

Accidents are quite natural even after provider much safer workplace. Businesses are taking all measures to provide safer work place but they also need to keep odds in their favor if accident happens. HSE is also planning the fee of intervention cost recovery scheme.
