Douglas Wemyss are Finalists at the MSDUK Awards 2012

Douglas Wemyss Solicitors is very proud to announce that we have been nominated as finalists at the MSDUK Awards 2012 in the category of Responsible Business Practices.

Sept. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- The MSDUK supports ethnic minority businesses and works with 36 blue chip companies to establish links between them and ethnic minority businesses. The MSDUK is also affiliated to National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) which is based in the USA. Our nomination for Responsible Business Practices is recognition of our commitment to doing business the right way this includes maintaining a high standard of customer service. Douglas Wemyss is actively involved in making a positive contribution to society either through the giving of time, or our solicitors passing on their knowledge. We are one of three finalists for the award who were chosen by a judging panel consisting of: 3 corporate representatives, 4 ethnic minority businesses and 2 independent partner organisations. The winner will be announced on the 11th of October at the MSDUK Awards. The awards ceremony will be very special this year as the Awards has a distinguished Master of Ceremonies, the BBC World News Presenter George Alagriah.

We are also very proud to announce that our senior partner Sameer Karim is one of the judges for this year’s conference. Sameer will not be judging the category of Responsible Business Practices due to us being in the final. He will however be one of the judges for the other awards; Innovation, Business Growth and Corporation of the Year.  Sameer has been very impressed with the quality of the finalists this year and has found the task of picking winners in each category to be a very tough decision due to the high calibre of candidates.

The Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) is the UKs leading supplier diversity organisation, the organisation ‘provides a link between the large corporations and ethnic minority businesses to enable the building of commercially beneficial business relationships.’ Some of the companies that MSDUK work with include: IBM, BT, EDF Energy and there are many more established firms that MSDUK works with to provide a link between the large multi-national companies and ethnic minority businesses. Ethnic minority businesses (EMBs) contribute a great deal to the UK economy and MSDUK is here to provide support and encourage these businesses in their development. Mayank Shah, Director of MSDUK said that “MSDUK has already secured over £20m worth of business for EMBs.” The organisation is devoted to helping develop the ethnic minority business community and bring prosperity in under-represented communities.  Mayank Shah is also hoping that the Olympic spirit will help the MSDUK 2012 Awards inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs from ethnic minority communities.
