Doctor Panozzo Uses Physics to Cure Sports Injury Patients Without Drugs

Most Joint and Muscle Problems are Simply a Failure to Bear Weight

Sept. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – For more than 45 years, Anthony Panozzo, MD has been using science to treat his sports medicine patients. While that may not seem unusual, the fact that he prefers physics as his science of choice instead of pharmacology does make him pretty unique.

“I studied sports medicine by looking at the design and function of each part and see how they interact with other parts of the body,” Dr. Panozzo said. “Pain is simply a failure to bear weight. I have a special exam for each part.”

In fact, each sport has its particular set of injuries including golf.

Instead of costly radiology exams, Dr. Panozzo uses his years of physics experience to diagnose the exact problem with the muscle or joint, using special exams called exam by commitment.

The athlete is diagnosed as to where the pain derives, then the treatment occurs, and then the patient is reexamined.

“I don’t believe in the indiscriminate use of MRI exams in sports medicine,” he said. “It was not designed to be a diagnostic tool. The MRI does give the anatomic diagnosis, but the physiologic diagnosis is what I deliver.”

He simply uses cause and effect to probe common sports injuries.

“I don’t believe in the need to use drugs whatsoever to treat common sports injuries,” Dr. Panozzo said. “I may use specific injections to areas, but taking a pill to treat a problem is wrong.”

Dr. Panozzo even believes that arthritis is simply a failure to bear weight. Further knees were not meant to be operated on.

“Front to back knee joint injuries should never be fixed by operating,” he said.

For his patients, his innovative approach using physics instead of drugs often means quicker recovery with less downtime. That’s why many basketball players come to him for treatment of issues with their lower back.

“I know the way to treat it properly so that there is no downtime,” he said. “It is all about knowing and understanding the proper anatomical use of joints.”

Dr. Panozzo is accepting new patients and his practice is located at 16244 S. Military Trail, Suite 740 in Delray Beach. He can be reached at 561-381-5800.
