Maryland Public TV taping Suzanne Andrews Functional Fitness
Sept. 24, 2012
-- The cries of “standby!” and “action!” could recently be heard at the Ladew Gardens, as the outdoor location transformed into a set for a national Public Television series, Functional Fitness starring Suzanne Andrews.® With the third series, producer, Glenn Edison Poyer, nephew of the motion picture camera inventor, Thomas Edison, decided to take the show on the road with the theme, Workout Across America. Suzanne Andrews, a licensed rehab practitioner and host of the show agreed that instructing workouts performed at extremely beautiful settings would help motivate viewers to put the fun in Functional Fitness while enjoying the health benefits that each episode offers.
Ladew Topiary Gardens is known around the world for its topiary and flower gardens. A self-taught gardener, Harvey S. Ladew (1887-1976) created 15 thematic “garden rooms” on 22 acres of his 250 acre Maryland property. Emily Emerick, Executive Director of the Ladew Gardens, revealed during an interview with Suzanne Andrews that the Ladew Gardens is rated as one of the top 5 gardens in the US.
While Maryland Public Television camera crew, Tim Pugh and Terry Williams captured each show with exercises performed seated and standing in high definition, Barbara Barnoff, Ladew Gardens Visitor Services Director supervised the shoot and was very instrumental in the success of the each of the 4 television episodes taped at the gardens.
