What is a Print on Wood?

A print on wood is the process of printing a photograph or illustration directly on to a piece of wood. With the latest technology available it has become possible to create a print on wood that has the same color, tone and contrast as the original photo or illustration.

 
How Long Does a Print on Wood Last?

Our printing process for a print on wood is very unique. We use a special process where we bake the image into the substrate of the wood. This process allows for the ink to actually penetrate and absorb into the wood allowing the grain of the wood to show through the image. This printing process for printing on wood provides an incredibly durable product. The print on wood is water resistant, uv coated an extremely vibrant in color.

What Type of Wood Works Best for Printing on Wood?

The best type of wood for a photograph printed on wood is Birch. It has a white surface and subtle wood grain. This allows for a true parallel between the photo and the print on wood. In addition the subtle wood grain works extremely well for portraits in that you do not have “tiger stripe” type grain running through a persons face on the photo.
