By: Edward Slinin The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation finalized the first ever national vehicle emissions standards in 2010. These standards were mandated for 2012 model-year vehicles. Many transportation companies such as Slinin’s Corporate Transportation Group are working to incorporate 2012 model-year vehicles so that these emissions standards are the norm. Corporate Transportation Group has always had a high interest in the environment and has been on the cutting edge of technological improvements that help to reduce emissions. Edward Slinin has always believed that the environment is a top priority. These new standards will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 960 million metric tons over a vehicle’s lifetime. This is the equivalent of taking fifty million vehicles off of the roads. It is a major step in reducing emissions. Furthermore, carbon dioxide emissions have been linked to numerous health issues. These health issues are especially prevalent among children. For example, vehicle emissions have been linked to an increase in emergency room visits related to wheezing and asthma in children ages five to seventeen. Reducing these emissions will not only help to reduce pollution, but will also improve overall health. Fortunately, most Americans are overwhelmingly supportive of stricter vehicle emissions regulations. Even more fortunate is the fact that at least one of the nation’s foremost transportation groups is fully embracing the stricter regulations. Corporate Transportation Group is a forerunner for reducing overall vehicle emissions. By wholeheartedly embracing the new standards, they are leading the nation and the business of transportation in a promising new direction. End
