American Tea Party Congress Declines to Endorse Kyrillos for U.S. Senate

The American Tea Party Congress withholds endorsement of either State Sen. Kyrillos or incumbent Sen. Menendez in New Jersey 2012 US Senate race. Neither share its goals of restoring constitutionally limited government and fiscal responsibility.

Sept. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- RED BANK, NJ – In a session held on August 25th, the American Tea Party Congress (ATPC), voted overwhelmingly in favor of withholding its endorsement of either State Senator Kyrillos or incumbent Senator Menendez, candidates in the New Jersey 2012 U.S. Senate race. The diverse group of independent Tea Party and conservative organizations declared that the present candidates do not share their common goals of restoring constitutional government and instituting fiscal responsibility.

Robert Gordon, spokesman for the ATPC, said, “Democrat Senator Menendez is unacceptable for the simple reason that he is an anti-Constitutional liberal who believes in growing government, higher taxes, socialized medicine, redistribution of other peoples’ hard earned income, class warfare and illegal immigration.”

“On the other hand, the ATPC also notes that while Senator Kyrillos at times may have cast his vote on the side of Conservative principles, many of his votes were not consistent with either Tea Party principles or the Republican platform. We do not believe that having an “R” after one’s name necessarily means that they uphold the Republican platform or are Conservative.”

Gordon continued, “This is America, and we respect everyone’s liberty of conscience. Therefore, according to our organizational structure, our members and their organizations are free to come to their own conclusions, regarding endorsing any of the New Jersey 2012 senate candidates. If they are comfortable voting for a compromise, they should follow their conscience and do so. However, we cannot state strongly enough that the American Tea Party Congress will only endorse candidates whom we believe are worthy of our time and energy and that we are confident will preserve and protect our federal and state constitutions. If such a candidate cannot be found in New Jersey, we will encourage our members to support candidates in other states that are proven constitutional conservatives.”
