Joshua’s Heart and Whole Foods Market Aventura host cooking café and food giveaway at Gulfstream
During the height of summer vacation, when families receiving reduced or free lunch experience additional challenges when it comes to feeding their children, WFM-Aventura provided a week's worth of groceries for over 130 families.
“As an educator, I often seek to inspire others to become better citizens, students, and human beings. Inspiration of the heart really helps others overcome obstacles and move into action. This past weekend you and your Foundation have inspired me in an amazing way. Thank you so much for being a pioneer in the fight against hunger and note that I will forever be one of your soldiers in creating solutions to this needless problem. On behalf of the entire Gulfstream Family, I applaud you and thank you for your dedication to all of us”. - Brian Kingsley, Principal Gulfstream Middle.
“Our partnership with Joshua’s Heart Foundation enabled us to assist over one-hundred and thirty hungry families in our community in an immediate and tangible way. By supplying them with groceries, recipe cards and live cooking demonstrations;
“This is my mission in life”, said Joshua. “We give families hope and educate them in how to prepare healthier meals for their families. Whole Foods Market is a tremendous partner in making our food giveaways and cooking demonstrations a major success every time”.
Gulfstream Middle School students expressed their gratitude with these sentiments:
“Thank you for the groceries that you have provided for us. My family and I had a delicious meal from the food that we received”…Gaby 7th grader Gulfstream Middle School.
“When I heard you started helping people, it made me think, I would like to help people too. You have inspired me to make a difference. With the groceries that your foundation has given us, we made carrot cake, salad and much more”…Jasmine 7th grader Gulfstream Middle School.
In addition to feeding the needy, Joshua and his elves were gifted by the Sangria family of Coral Gables, with 50 backpacks filled with school supplies to give away at Gulfstream Middle School. There were an additional 100 backpacks donated to ensure each student had the tools necessary to start the school year out right.
