Bryan Brothers Set All-Time Record with Fourth U.S. Open Win

The Bryan Brothers secured their fourth US Open win, surpassing ‘the Woodies’ and setting the record for the most Grand Slam tournaments won in ATP history.

Sept. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Tennis all-stars Bob and Mike Bryan, better known as “the Bryan Brothers,” reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ATP men’s doubles category after winning their fourth U.S. Open last week. The win, which keeps the brothers on a 17-1 set winning streak that began at the Olympics in August, makes Bob and Mike the winningest doubles team in Open history, breaking the tie with Australian team Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde.

"We looked up to the Woodies, and to now hold all of their records is unbelievable." Mike said. "They're one of the reasons we play doubles."

Since May, the Brothers have won four titles, reaching one semi-final and two finals that included the 2012 Olympics in London, where Bob and Mike brought home the gold.

"We had an up and down 12 months,” said Bob after the win. "We took a lot of lumps, but now that's all forgotten. This run is sweeter than ever."

In addition to winning the title, the Bryan Brothers were also honored with the inaugural U.S. Open Sportsmanship Award. The duo dedicated their newest U.S. Open title to 12-year-old Jack Robinson, a courageous young man and tennis fan who is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Bob and Mike’s tribute to Jack -- who got a chance to sport the Brothers’ gold Olympic medal -- is part of their ongoing efforts to give back to the community and to the youth through their Bryan Brothers Foundation.

The Bryan Brothers weren’t the only ones to win back-to-back Olympic gold and U.S. Open title this summer.  Serena Williams and Andy Murray also accomplish the feat, which marked the first time in history that the Olympic gold medal winners in men's doubles, men's singles and women's singles also went on to win the U.S. Open in the same summer.

As the Bryan Brothers continue to break records, they enjoy celebrating with Bob’s baby girl Micaela Bryan. Baby Micaela has fans of her own through her Twitter profile, which has the whole tennis world abuzz. In a tweet posted on September 7th, a photo showed a smiling and surely proud Baby Micaela sitting inside the trophy won during their recent US Open victory.  The tweet: @MicaelaBryan: “I’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for the support. Without you, I couldn’t have done it.”

This week Bob and Mike are in Gijon, Spain representing the USA in the Davis Cup semifinals.
