All money was collected in advance of the annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic held Aug. 26 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State University, which brings together celebrities, local and national sponsors and more than 700 volunteers in an effort to raise money for cancer research. Kroger served as the official volunteer sponsor of the classic and donated gift cards as well as produce to supplement 750 sandwiches made by Good Meadows for tournament participants. Since its start in 1993, the V Foundation has raised more than $120 million to fund cancer research nationwide.
