By: MeasureUp Media General Information 2.6 million Breast Cancer SURVIVORS & Counting! Both women & men get breast cancer. New treatments are more effective now than at any other time in history. But once in remission, then what? MeasureUp Magazine will be a professional online magazine that explores the world of post mastectomy items, services, products, trends regulations and professional fitters. According to the American Cancer Society approximately 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually. Mastectomy, amputation of the breast is still the treatment of choice for most women and all men with the disease. Only 35% of women nationally choose surgical reconstruction. For a variety of reasons, a high percentage of those surgeries are unsuccessful. For the vast majority, external breast prostheses are the option to restore physiological symmetry. Post mastectomy items and services are not lingerie and not "fake boobs" but medical items provided by Certified Individuals. MeasureUP! Magazine is the first magazine that combines information for breast cancer survivors about their options as well as information for the medical professionals that care and treat post mastectomy issues. Based in Houston Texas, MeasureUp! Media has chosen crowdsource funding through Indiegogo.com to cover the final production and launch costs for the magazine. Several of the PERKS for donation include Honorariums. Funding may be given as a gift or In Honor of someone special. In this way, MeasureUP! will be all inclusive from launch to publication.
