TD Bank Participates in the Stand UP for Autism Paddleboard Weekend

Sept. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, is joining Stand UP for Autism Paddleboard to present the organization’s first racing event in association with Sup Joey Paddle Board on Saturday, September 15.  This three-day event includes a kick-off party at the Cabana at Waters Edge on Thursday, September 13, at 8 p.m. and an auction to benefit the Charleston Autism Academy.  The races begin at 8 a.m. September 15 with the Elite race, certified by the World Paddle Association (WPA).

Friday, September 14, will be set aside for private instruction from the renowned athlete Michael “Westy” Westenberger, an avid racer sponsored by YOLO boards ©.  SUP Joey and Paddle Fit© also will offer paddleboard certification clinics throughout the weekend.  The big event begins at 8 p.m.  Saturday on Shem Creek at Waters Edge.  The first race will feature professional paddleboarders, coming from all over the world, to compete in a seven-mile race where they can earn points in conjunction with WPA standards.  Registration is at 7 a.m. with a mandatory pre-race meeting for all racers at 7:45 a.m.  A recreational three-mile race for all skill levels begins at 8:15 a.m., followed by a one-mile kid’s race and a SUP Paddle for Autism session.  Please register at http://sup4autism.weebly.com/ as space is limited.   Board rentals will be available.  All proceeds benefit Charleston Autism Academy (CAA).

CAA is a non-profit  organization providing autism therapy services to children with autism.  To learn more about CAA, please visit charlestonautismacademy.org.  Paddleboarding has positively impacted our children’s communication and gross motor skills.  SUP Joey (supjoey.com) has helped the children of CAA to access paddleboarding as well as experience a unique sport.
