with the Rich Goldstein Duo
Tuesday, September 25, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Come and join Rich Goldstein as he performs a mix of American songbook standards, jazz classics, and modern compositions within an intimate duo setting. The music will pay respect to many of the influences that inspired him including Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, and Joe Diorio.
Hartford based guitarist Rich Goldstein received his initial training at the Hartt School’s Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz and completed his Masters in jazz studies at Purchase College in New York. Rich is a professor of jazz guitar at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music, Central Connecticut State University, and Southern Connecticut State University. He has performed at some of the nation's best jazz venues and festivals including The Atlanta Jazz Fest, The Cancun Jazz Fest, and The International Jazz Festival. His 2008 CD Comin’ from Montgomery is a tribute to The Montgomery Brothers. In 2011, Rich recorded material for a new album with Andy LaVerne (piano), Steve LaSpina (bass) and Anthony Pinciotti (drums) with a guest appearance by veteran saxophonist, Billy Drewes. Rich leads his own groups and performs with Ed Fast and Congabop, the Gil Hawkins Jazz Collective, and is a co-leader in a quartet with Andy LaVerne.
