-- The ten week workshop, beginning Saturday September 22 - December 15, 2012 introduces film, television, and theater technique; comedy, drama and commercials. It is designed to give new actors an overview of different types of acting, and skills necessary to excel in each area. It will test and develop performance ability while challenging reliability. In ten weeks, actors will explore finding appropriate monologues, working with scenes and scene partners, taking direction, working with cold copy, developing stage and on-camera technique.
Who Should Participate?
Beginners: People who have worked in community theater but have not studied or worked professionally;
people who have never acted before, earned a living in another field and want to explore acting as a second career; individuals who have not worked as principal players on stage or on screen and background actors who desire principal work but have no acting training, will benefit. All the basics of laying a foundation to build an acting career will be touched on.
Participants can sign up on-line, using a credit card or PayPal with or without their own Paypal account. Spaces are limited.. The 10am to noon Saturday sessions cost $300 per person for 10 weeks. Cinti Laird, actress, writer, director, film & theater producer is featured in films by directors Alan Alda, Joel Schumacher, Mario Van Peebles and Louis Massiah. She's been directed in sit-coms by Paul Feig, Steve Buscemi, Seith Mann, and Linda Wallem. Cinti worked in production with director Ron Howard and many others as a part of the production team on Law and
Order. She writes, directs and produces Off Broadway theater, films and musicals. New York University, Tisch School of Arts Alumni, Cinti Laird teaches acting, working with children as a teaching artist in New York City Public Schools. With adults she now casts and directs for film and theater after years of service teaching television acting at American Federation of Radio And Television Artists Stanley Green Audio Video Facility. Ms. Laird apprenticed in musicals: (1) with the late Rosetta LeNoire (AMAS), drama with: (2) Judy Jourdan (Van Damn), (3) Lynne Thigpen, Austin Pendleton and Milan Stitt (Circle Rep) created, produced and hosted the live weekly reality comedy variety show, Cinti's Comedy Pageant in Manhattan clubs crowing a Comic of the Year for 2 consecutive years.
