PKM Partners to Speak at Banking Conference

Sept. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Tim Messman and Pat Tuley, partners at Porter Keadle Moore (PKM) accounting firm, are on the agenda for the 2012 Southeast Regional Subchapter S Bank Conference. The event, hosted by the Community Bankers Association of Georgia and the Subchapter S Bank Association, will be held Sept. 20 and 21 at the Westin Buckhead in Atlanta.  

The conference is designed to give attendees specific strategies and tactics that will be helpful to the banks’ shareholders and customers. Almost one-third of financial institutions insured by the FDIC are Subchapter S banks; the “S Corp” remains a viable option, particularly in light of potential tax law changes. 

The agenda, which kicks off with an update on laws and regulations, includes presentations on important issues such as corporate governance, merger and acquisition strategies, investment portfolios, enforcement actions and more.  

Tim Messman is a partner in PKM’s Audit group, which provides accounting and auditing services to financial service companies. He is also on the steering committee of the Community Bankers Association of Georgia’s Financial Managers Forum. Pat Tuley, who oversees PKM’s tax services, has more than 25 years experience in public accounting. He advises clients on tax law compliance, tax and business structure planning, S Corporation election and other issues. They will join other panelists – including representatives of law firms, investment firms and holding companies – to discuss a number of issues critical to the banking community.
