Business and Clean Energy Goals Align with Install of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at PADTPADT announces the availability of three BLINK Electric Vehicle charging stations at their Tempe, AZ headquarters. PADT worked with ECOtality, the manufacturers of the charging stations, on the design of the DC Fast Charger that was installed.
By: PADT, Inc. To charge an EV at the ASU Research Park, drivers pull into a designated parking spot, swipe their Blink InCard (RFID card), plug the charger into the EV, and then charge their vehicle. Drivers can get a Blink InCard at Blink Network (http://www.blinknetwork.com/ As a company and as individuals, PADT and its employees are dedicated to promoting and improving Clean Energy technologies. The majority of PADT's company cars use hybrid technology and one is an EV. When ECOtality's Phoenix office, located just a few miles from PADT in downtown, asked PADT to be a partner in the development of the Blink DC Fast Charger "we quickly became attached to this product" says Michael Landis, the manager of the Product Development group at PADT. "Not only was this a great engineering project, it was something we all took a personal interest in. It was a proud day when we shipped the prototype charger to ECOtality for field testing. Now we are very proud to plug our company vehicle into that same device, in our own parking lot. It is great to see your work literally on the street, making a difference." “We are extremely excited to see this whole process come full-circle, and be able to provide PADT with our Blink charging stations,” stated Marc Sobelman, Area Manager for Arizona. “ It is not only great to be able to install at one of our strategic partner’s headquarters, but the location is ideal for EV drivers around the Valley who want a fast charge.” Morgan Olsen, ASU’s Executive Vice President, Treasurer and CFO and President of the ASU Research Park, Inc. Board of Directors, had this to say about PADT: “As a valued tenant in the Research Park since 2002, PADT is a wonderful example of the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship embodied by Park tenants. Further, given ASU’s commitment to advancing research, education and practice in renewable energy utilization, we are especially pleased that PADT’s contribution to the advancement of EV technology furthers the level of sustainability and work/life quality at the Park.” Ward Rand, one of PADT's four owners, is especially pleased with the installation. "When we received a delivery date for our company electric vehicle, we immediately contacted ECOtality and signed up for The EV Project. I've used charging stations all over the valley as I drive around visiting customers. Hosting three chargers 20 feet from the front door of our office allows us to contribute to the charging community, and lets me get a full charge before I head out around the valley."
