Bubka Praises London 2012 Paralympic Games

Olympic pole-vaulting legend Sergey Bubka has praised the London 2012 Paralympic Games as the ‘greatest ever’ and the spirit of the competitors taking part in events over the past week.

Sept. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Olympic pole-vaulting legend Sergey Bubka has praised the London 2012 Paralympic Games as the ‘greatest ever’ and the spirit of the competitors taking part in events over the past week.

IOC Member Bubka has watched a number of events and has also met International Paralympic Committee President Sir Philip Craven.

Bubka also met Ukrainian Paralympic athletes, coaches and officials at the Olympic village on Tuesday to congratulate them on their achievements so far.

World record holder Bubka said: “Olympians and Paralympians are family. They share the same goals, the same ideas and the same dreams. Olympic athletes and supporters admire the performances of Paralympians who glorify human’s spirit.
“This has been the greatest ever Paralympic Games that sets a benchmark for the future and underlines the importance and popularity of Paralympic sport around the world.”

Bubka, who is the President of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee (NOC), met with the athletes and President of Ukrainian Paralympic Committee Valery Sushkevich. Team Ukraine are currently fourth place in the 2012 Paralympic Games’ medal count as the team has  so far won 59 medals.
