Mackin Co-Sponsors Celebration Of Minnesota Children’s Authors & Illustrators In Red Wing, MN

Sept. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- In a continuing effort to make arts programs and services accessible to all people, including those with disabilities, the Anderson Center in Red Wing, Minnesota, is hosting a family friendly literary event on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Known as the Celebration of Minnesota Children’s Authors & Illustrators, the event is in its thirteenth year of showcasing several of the state’s finest writers and artists.

Every year thousands of book and art lovers attend the celebration to listen to favorite stories read by the authors, to meet the illustrators behind the art, and to enjoy activities such as paper marbling and story-related crafts. This year’s event will feature appearances by more than a dozen authors and illustrators, including Nancy Carlson, John Coy, David Geister, Kevin Kling, Stephen Shaskan, and Lauren Stringer.

“What sets this festival apart is that it features the very best writers and illustrators of children’s literature in Minnesota,” said Robert Hedin, executive director of the Anderson Center. “We provide an opportunity for readers to not only meet the creators of their favorite children’s books, but also to meet emerging artists.”

The Anderson Center is located five miles north of Red Wing, Minnesota, at the intersection of Highways 61 and 19. Admission, parking, and activities are all free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale with time set aside for book signings by the authors and illustrators.
