By: Kristi Burchfiel The Jam’n Toastmaster club, which meets in northeast Wichita, held their annual humorous speech contest and evaluation contest on Wednesday August 29th. The results are: Humorous Speaking Contest First place – Sheelagh Sy Second place – Jonathan Busenitz Evaluation Contest First place – Sheelagh Sy Second place – Martha Carolina Gil These first and second place winners will advance to the local Area 24 contest which will be held on September 22nd at Star Lumber, 325 S West St, Wichita,KS. Jam’n Toastmasters is an excellent place for people from all backgrounds and experience levels to strengthen and enhance their communication skills. The regular meetings consist of two prepared speeches, several brief impromptu speeches, and an educational portion where the participants receive feedback on the prepared speeches as well as the meeting as a whole. Meetings are open and visitors are welcome. Enjoy practicing communication skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment where everyone wants to see you succeed.
