Ashworth College Employs Social Media Techniques for its Online Human Resources Degree Program

Ashworth College, a leading online school, created the Human Resources Community Group within its online community as a resource for students and professionals with an interest in this popular and versatile field.

Sept. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Peachtree Corners, Georgia – Depending on the size of a company, an employee might not be on a first name basis with the president. However, there is one department that works with everyone on the payroll – human resources. From hiring and training to benefits and maintaining employee records, these individuals are responsible for one of the company’s most valuable assets – human capital, which is one of the reasons why Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/), a leading online school, introduced this resource for those interested or enrolled in an online human resources degree program.

Ashworth created the Human Resources Community Group within its online community as a resource for students and professionals with an interest in this popular and versatile field. The group serves nearly 1,000 members (August 2012) and is part of the 130,000 members in the larger online Ashworth Community. A majority of group members are enrolled in one of the online human resources degree programs.

“The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently conducted a survey that showed an increase in U.S. job market confidence,” said Ryan Rode, Interactive Services Manager for Ashworth College. He also referenced a similar survey reporting 52% of HR professionals having trouble finding properly skilled workers for job openings at their companies. “Having relevant career training is a critical component to a job search. Ashworth’s wide range of affordable online career training courses could be an important investment in one’s future.”

Rode also noted that “Ashworth’s online Community groups are proving to be a great way to boost your career with career-relevant knowledge and a professional networking support system.”

Ashworth has been educating working adults for more than 25 years, and with the launch of the Human Resources Community Group, the online school provides a state-of-the-art resource that shares professional content with non-students, as well as providing social networking opportunities for existing students enrolled in an online human resources degree program. Group members and visitors will find:

•   A network of motivated and engaged students and professionals who are willing to encourage others by sharing personal, professional and educational insights and successes.
•   Online study groups comprised of current students enrolled in an online human resources degree program. Members readily offer assistance with lessons and provide moral support to HR course group members.
•   Insights from practicing human resources professionals. Subject matter experts often host live events to answer questions relevant to real-world situations.

While job opportunities vary depending on the staffing needs of individual companies, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of human resources managers is expected to grow 13% through 2020, especially in the professional, scientific, and technical consulting industry as organizations continue to contract with outside consulting firms for some of their human resources functions.

“When I started I didn't know what to expect really so I didn’t put in as much work as the lessons required, but now I’ve got myself into a good study habit and it's really paying off.” Posted by A. DeSanno in the Human Resources Group.
