"Opera-tini" is Featured Cocktail to Help Raise Money for African American Classical Musicians

“Melody of Art” features free reception featuring artists, poets and classical musicians to benefit non-profit organization.
Aug. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- (WASHINGTON, DC - September 18, 2012) This year, the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts (CAAPA) holds its 8th annual Pre-Caucus Reception & Fundraiser by inviting arts lovers and politicos to support African American Classical Musicians, Visual Artists and Poets at a showcase entitled “Melody of Art” on Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Bobby McKey’s, 172 Fleet Street, National Harbor, Maryland, 10 minutes south of Washington, DC. Help “Bring Color to the Classics!” in helping to "Bring Color to the Classics!"

The free business chic attire evening also includes a cash bar featuring CAAPA’s signature drinks, the “Operatini” and the “Bach-arita” which, when ordered, benefits Black classical musicians. This year’s event features visual artists Frank Frazier and others, along with noted classical musicians including Samantha McElhaney, Wayne Jennings, Louis Davis, Edmond Charles, poets Collective Voices (Sistah Joy, Ladi Di & Bernado) and more. Special youth guests performers are the Oxon Hill High School Flute Ensemble.  

This year CAAPA honors Music Director, Conductor, Pianist Darin Atwater for his contribution to classical music. Musical artist and Author Stacy Lattisaw is a special guest.
