Aug. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Mingling with TV and movie celebrities is a perk of Con X 2012 that will have charitable results.  Fans that attend festivities throughout the weekend of September 14-16 will also help an important charity: the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).  Proceeds from the Friday night cocktail party and concert, the Mardi Gras Party on Saturday, as well as all raffles held throughout the weekend will go to WWP.

Burnt Water Productions’ organizers are both veterans and grew up in military families.  “It just made sense to us that we would support something that has supported us and been so much a part of our lives … something that we are proud of,” states Michelle Dillman.  WWP’s mission statement is “to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.”   Dillman goes on to say “The WWP has taken a good hard look at the people who are coming back from war and…they treat the whole person mind and body as one unit. They provide activities and programs to help the military person and their family.”

WWP will have a booth at the convention where guests can learn more about the organization and purchase bracelets, t-shirts and other merchandise that will further benefit the cause.  Those with a valid military ID will also get a 50% discount on tickets at the box office.

Con X is Kansas City’s first and only pop-culture, horror and sci-fi convention running September 14-16, 2012.  Con X takes place at the Ramada Conference Center and boasts film icons, TV stars, filmmakers, artists, authors and musicians who have not only entertained us over the years, but have served our country and earned Olympic Gold Medals.  Walter “Chekov” Koenig (“Star Trek”), Denise Crosby (“Pet Sematary,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation”) and James Tolkan (“Back to the Future,” “Top Gun”) headline the event.  There are cast reunions for “Paranormal Activity,” “Stargate SG-1” and “Amityville Horror” as well as a photo op with the “Back to the Future” Delorean and James Tolkan, aka Principal Strickland, from the film (full list of celebrities here).

Fans of all genres will get a complete “celebrity” experience with a chance to meet the stars, get autographs and pictures and enjoy an intimate dinner with them in the hotel’s Fireside Room.  A film festival … parties and concerts … shopping in the dealer room … Q&A panels with the celebs …  are just a few of the events that will make this a weekend convention goers won’t soon forget (full list of events on their website).
