Aug. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- FORT COLLINS, CO, – Always on the lookout for exciting new destinations to pedal, ExperiencePlus! Bicycle Tours, in 1972 the first North American tour company to offer bike tours in Europe (http://www.experienceplus.com/), announces first-ever European cycling itineraries for 2013 to Spain’s Catalonia region, Slovenia and the wild west of Ireland.

To encourage guests to book early the company is offering a $200 per person discount off any of 2013 European trip departures if reserved on or before Nov. 15, 2012. The company has also held 95 percent of its tour prices unchanged for the fifth consecutive year.

Following are the three new European tours:

Spain’s Sunny Catalonia Region (and Costa Brava) is an 8- or 12-day tour beginning in Girona (considered to have the most well-preserved Jewish quarter of any European city) before pedaling east through hidden fishing villages and wine country to Costa Brava, culminating in Figueras, Salvador Dali’s birthplace. The 12-day program concluding in Barcelona continues west into the Pyrenees foothills through a volcanic natural preserve and on to an old Roman spa town. Overnights include, among others, the medieval village of Peratallada, and Cadaques accessing Cap de Creus. Departures are May 16 and Sept. 26, 2013. The per person double occupancy rates (before discount) are, for eight days, $3,550 (single supplement $500) and for 12 days $4,495 (single supplement $600).

Border Hopping – Austria, Italy and Slovenia is through flatter-than-usual terrain making it good for beginners or families with children. This 8-day/7-night (short) or 11-day/10-night (Plus!) itinerary follows river valleys through the Alps into Slovenia’s Lake District, including famous Lake Bled and then (on the extended tour) to Ljubijana, Slovenia’s elegant Baroque/Art Nouveau capital and wine region. Departures are June 16 and Sept. 9, 2013. Per person, double occupancy prices (before discount) are $3,250 ($500 single supplement) for the 8-day tour and $4,250 ($600 single) for the 11-day tour.

Ireland – Bicycling the 51st State is an 8-day or 11-day tour of the western Ireland countryside, which might be considered the outback of Europe. Here the hospitality is contagious and traditional country music heard in a pub can be as lively and danceable as found in any cowboy bar in Texas. The “feel right at home” tour encompasses Connemara and the Aran Islands, the “gaeltacht”, so-called as it defines one of four geographic areas where the Irish language is still spoken. Departures are June 16, July 14 and Aug. 12, 2013. Per person, double occupancy prices (before discount) are $3,495 ($500 single) for the 8-day tour and $4,595 ($600 single) for 11 days.
