Aug. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Santa Fe- NM, August 21, 2012. Javier Sicilia's Caravan for Peace, with Justice and Dignity made a stop at the Plaza in Santa Fe, where awareness was raised for the plight of Mexican victims of the United States' drug war. The event included a performance by Aztec Dancers, as well as poetry readings by the likes of Jimmy Santiago Baca and the 555 Collective's own Karen Vargas.

Karen Vargas was provided an opportunity to interview Sicilia, who was gracious enough to provide insightful, poignant answers to rather pointed questions. Vargas has created a commentary to be published alongside Sicilia's answers. This moment marks the 555's founding of what its editor, Joseph Carman, describes as "journalism channeled through a filter of compassion and truth".

Vargas' article can be read at http://www.555c.org, where as always, visitors can browse through multiple pieces related to innovative visual art, music, and literature. The mission of the 555 Collective is utilize all forms of the arts to generate support for survivors of trauma, while promoting and recognizing the work of cutting edge artists.
