Aug. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Online giving is becoming increasingly popular and Giverr.org (http://Giverr.org) is now offering a free “web widget” that churches can use to collect online donations even if they don’t have a website.

The Giverr.org widget is different than typical Paypal widgets in that it will process one-time donations, as well as recurring donations.

The widget is a piece of coding that allows website visitors to specify donation amount and frequency.  Payments go directly into the church’s Paypal account.  Paypal is the world’s most popular payment processor.

If a church doesn’t have it’s own website, the company will place the widget for free on Giverr.org.  The widget can also be placed on Facebook pages or members’ personal blogs.

An important feature of the widget is it’s ability to set up regular weekly or monthly payments.  “Recurring donations are not only convenient for donors, they insure a steady income flow for the church, and generally result in greater total giving”, says company president John Horning.

The company, based in the Akron, Ohio area, offers additional services such as nightly transfers of money from Paypal to the church’s bank account, and year-end donation statements that can be used to claim deductions for charitable contributions.  They also offer a more advanced system of online giving that includes the ability to direct money toward specific church funds.

In addition to online giving, Giverr.org is also a platform that groups and individuals can use to raise money online.  Online fundraising has become increasing popular.  “It’s an alternative to traditional ‘offline’ fundraising”, says Horning.  “Online fundraising allows you to reach out to people around the world, and at minimal cost.”

Larger charitable groups have been using online fundraising for some time, but the trend recently is for smaller groups and even individuals to run fundraising campaigns.  Campaigns on Giverr.org must be approved before they go live, but nearly any cause is eligible as long as it meets legal and ethical guidelines.
