Red Bank, NJ – The American Tea Party Congress understands that our nation’s strength and prosperity is firmly rooted in its unique founding principles – life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Despite our inspired beginning, our nation now stands in a crisis of flawed policy and political weakness. We are resolved to employ all possible resources to restore Constitutional governance, free markets and fiscal responsibility. This is why The American Tea Party Congress announces its support of the 2012 Republican presidential team, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.  

Mitt Romney’s business success is evidence of his belief in American free enterprise, and that prosperity and strength are essential to liberty. Romney has outlined a workable plan of action to roll back misguided policies, empower citizens, and restore this nation. He strongly supports gun rights and has pledged to restore the Constitutional rule of law with restraints on federal government. Romney understands the importance of selecting judges who also share the Framers’ view of limited government.  

Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan, has developed a fiscal plan that gained bipartisan support and balances the federal budget while restructuring major entitlements and assuring benefits for the elderly and the most vulnerable. Ryan brings additional vision and financial acumen to the ticket.  He capably articulates the conservative principles on which this nation was founded.

Robert Gordon, spokesman for the American Tea Party Congress, noted, “The Romney/Ryan team brings a tremendous amount of experience, vision and ability to the presidential ticket. Americans want a president who understands entrepreneurship, who believes in our nation’s founding principles and will work tirelessly to restore the pride, power and prosperity our country once enjoyed. The Romney/Ryan team demonstrates a serious commitment to steer away from the looming fiscal cliff, which is absolutely essential in stabilizing our economy and righting the ship of state.”  Gordon added, “Romney and Ryan both understand you can’t tax and regulate the country into prosperity. They also understand that people, not government, are the best allocators of their own resources. Bringing this understanding back into the White House will completely ‘transform’ the Executive Branch and will restore the confidence our battered business sector needs to create jobs.”

Gordon continued, “The ATPC’s 30+ individual groups will coordinate efforts to support the Romney/Ryan ticket, which is dedicated to returning to smaller, simpler, smarter government, and implementing a strategy to secure America’s enduring interests and ideals.”
