Google Fiber is excited about bringing its notably swift internet access to Notre Dame de Sion School, the first independent school in the nation to qualify for the broadband service.  The Google Fiber Truck will visit the Sion Grade School (3823 Locust, KCMO 64109) on Thursday, August 23 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Representatives from Google Fiber will be handing out their promotional bunny stickers and Shatto Milk ice cream sandwiches to the students and faculty.

Notre Dame de Sion School learned that its Grade School Campus qualified for free Google Fiber on Tuesday.  More than 11% of households in the community had pre-registered by Wednesday in the Central Hyde Park neighborhood surpassing the area’s pre-registration goal of five percent.  The good news, received by Sion’s Head of School Mrs. Chris Broderick via Twitter, makes Sion the first independent school in the nation to qualify for Google Fiber.  According to Google Fiber, the order of construction will not be determined until all eligible neighborhoods receive their final rankings on September 9.
