Aug. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- In a challenge to the traditional academic publishing market, Watertree Press has released a new college-level research and statistics handbook at a fraction of the cost of a used textbook.  Social Science Research Design and Statistics: A Practitioner's Guide to Research Methods and SPSS Analysis by Alfred P. Rovai, Jason D. Baker, and Michael K. Ponton is the first textbook published by Watertree Press.  This handy guide to social science research and statistics has just been released in paperback and three electronic book formats: Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, and the forthcoming Apple multi-touch version.  The digital textbook versions retail at $9.99 while corresponding print edition is priced at only $29.95, a fraction of the cost of most statistics textbooks.

Social Science Research Design and Statistics integrates social science research methods and the descriptions of 46 univariate, bivariate, and multivariate tests to include a description of the purpose, assumptions, example research question and hypothesis, SPSS procedure, and interpretation of SPSS output for each test. Included throughout the book are various sidebars highlighting key points, images and SPSS screenshots to assist understanding the material presented, self-test reviews at the end of each chapter, a decision tree to facilitate identification of the proper statistical test, examples of SPSS output with accompanying analysis and interpretations, links to relevant web sites, and a comprehensive glossary. Underpinning all these features is a concise, easy to understand explanation of the material.

Unlike most research and statistics textbooks, Social Science Research Design and Statistics combines research methods, statistical procedures, and SPSS procedures and screenshots into a single volume.  Franco Gandolfi, Dean of the School of Business at California Baptist University, declared “The authors’ approach to explaining concepts is far superior to the multitude of textbooks that have appeared on the market.”  Additionally, this 556-page book is attractively priced at $29.95 for the paperback version and only $9.99 for the Kindle, Nook, and iBook digital versions.

Social Science Research Design and Statistics is the first textbook released from Watertree Press and has been released in print and digital versions simultaneously.  Watertree Press is an independent publishing house dedicated to quality non-fiction works which fulfill our motto: Read. Think. Grow.  Watertree Press books are distributed by Ingram and Baker & Taylor and available through online retailers including Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
