Grammy Award Winner Sally Van Meter headlines 1st Annual Elizabeth Community Music & Art Festival

Come for the run and stay for the run all day at the 1st Annual Elizabeth Community Music & Art Festival on Saturday, August 18
 
Aug. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- ELIZABETH, Colo. -- Enjoy a music and art festival “By the Community, For the Community” in Elizabeth on Saturday. Start off with a 5K fun run (or walk) followed by breakfast on the library grounds beginning at 7am followed by the festival running from 10am to 10pm. The Friends of the Elizabeth Library are holding their annual book sale during the festival and the Elbert County Libraries Foundation offers guided tours of the library including an overview of planned expansion into a great modern facility.

The Run. End your week with a 5K Fun Run (or walk) that has great views of the Front Range and supports libraries at the same time. Be in Elizabeth on Saturday, August 18, 2012. The run starts (and ends) at the Wildpointe Reserve (www.wildpointereserve.com) information office at 8am. Entries also accepted on the run day at the starting point. Breakfast is available after the run at the Elizabeth library grounds from 7 to 10am. The Fun.  Headlining the 1st Annual Elizabeth Community Music & Art Festival (http://elizabethfestival.com)  is Grammy Award winner Sally Van Meter playing with the Black Dog Band. She is the only female to win a Grammy for playing an instrument. A modern style resophonic guitar and lap steel player, Van Meter plays Scheerhorn resophonic guitars. Now living in Boulder, she is known for her tone and clean playing and is considered one of the leading “dobro” players in the contemporary bluegrass scene.

The Festival takes place from 10 am to 10 pm on Saturday, August 18, 2012, on the grounds of the Elizabeth library at 651 West Beverley Street (between Safeway and Big R) in Elizabeth.  It includes food, crafts and art vendors, free pony rides for the kids and exhibits as well as a beergarden.
