Aug. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Adoption can be a rewarding experience in many ways. Below are the two main reasons why people adopt children.

1.Cant have children of their own.
This is the most common reason people adopt. They aren't able to have children, but they have a strong desire to have a family. Having adoption as an option has been very beneficial for the children & the parents who adopt.

2.Desire to help the children.
This is another common reason why people adopt. Although there are a lot of babies in adoption agencies there are also a lot of older children who have suffered much neglect & abuse. The families who desire to help create a safe haven for these children allowing them the opportunity to grow in a loving & caring environment.

No matter the reason there are a few steps you an your family will have to go through to adopt.

What must we do first?
For domestic adoptions, the first step is completion of a pre-placement evaluation to determine the prospective parents' fitness and readiness as an adoptive parent or parents. A licensed child placing agency or a licensed social worker can do this evaluation. In addition, a home study must be performed and evaluated according to the Department of Public Health and Human Services' standards or licensed child placing agency's standards.
