-- DANVILLE, Calif. (August 16, 2012) -- Preptel Corporation, provider of job-seeker optimization services which improve a candidate’s chances of getting an interview and securing a job offer, announced today their new social-media reality job hunt series which will document 10 unemployed people searching for jobs over the course of 60 days using Preptel’s free tools.
Participants range from recent college graduates to the long-term unemployed, who will all update their job seeking process on Facebook and Twitter every day to chronicle their search for a job using Preptel. All of the participants have been searching for job for at least three months and have all previously attended job workshops, career fairs, hired resume writers and done other activities to help them to no avail.
“Using our free services, we’re confident that the participants will all find jobs within 60 days,” said Preptel founder, Jon Ciampi. “Preptel will not restrict any of the participants’
postings, will not review them in advance, nor discourage negative comments. They are encouraged to share their experiences so people can see what a huge difference Preptel makes in the job search process. Unfortunately, some of our strategies conflict with long established techniques, so we expect some resistance to change and frustration as part of the process. However, we believe our successes will overcome their resistance to change.”
Participants will use Preptel’s Resumeter™, which measures the likely success of securing an interview (and ultimately the job) based on a complex series of compatibility markers; once identified, the system will scour around the clock and intelligently suggest jobs starting with those that best fit the applicant’s qualification. Next, the system will actively help the candidate optimize the résumé for the specific jobs identified to increase the applicant’s likelihood of securing an interview. Recognizing that computers read a résumé first (not humans) and that over 75 percent of résumés are discarded for using the wrong word or formatting issues, the system will highlight recommended changes to the résumé in addition to job-specific matching suggestions. In addition, Preptel creates a timeline of the application process for each job – the system will warn users of deadlines if they are about to lose an opportunity. Other tools that help complete the job hunting process include built-in interview guides, salary range info, LinkedIn connections, and résumé tips.
