Sofitel Manila Launches Mission Habagat Official Facebook Page

Aug. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Sofitel Philippine Plaza, the only French 5 star hotel in Manila, in joint partnership with ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya, launches Mission Habagat relief operation! In line with this project, Sofitel Manila introduces its Mission Habagat’s official Facebook page.

The recent excessive rains and massive flooding brought by the “August 7’s Habagat” have tremendously changed the lives of our brothers and sisters in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. More than 384,000 families have sought shelter in evacuation centers, thus, leaving their own homes and possessions behind just to survive that tragic day. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC), death toll has climbed to 66. Of the total, 11 were victims of landslides; 47 died due to drowning; four were victims of electrocution; 2 died from heart attack; one killed due to fallen trees; and one case of undetermined death. The hardest-hit by the heavy monsoon rains and massive flooding is Central Luzon where more than 1.5 million people were affected.
