Aug. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Interest in Women At Woodstock, a retreat for women 50 and over to be held in Woodstock this October, has spread to foreign lands - Canada, to be exact.  This fledgling event has so far attracted boomer women from across the US; Beverly Hills, Santa Fe, Buffalo, Boston, Shoholo (PA), Hampton Bays, New York City, San Francisco, Cleveland, Seattle, San Diego… and now Toronto.  A private registration concierge has been brought on board to provide personal assistance with registration and travel arrangements.

Women At Woodstock will be held October 7-10, 2012 at the Emerson Resort and Spa in Woodstock New York. The purpose is to gather women in midlife for an inspiring three days and three nights of speakers, performances, workshops, and one-to-one expert consultations to inspire change and action on personal, community, and political levels. Women At Woodstock is not a traditional conference; it is meant to be a total immersion retreat to foster change.

“It’s ironic that there are virtually no conferences or retreats focused on over-50 women,” says Ann Voorhees Baker, the organizer. “Women over 50 make 80% of buying decisions for households that have 80% of the nation’s money; women age 50+ spend 2.5 times what the average person spends.  As a generation we have a deep tradition steeped in the 60’s and 70’s – the time of Woodstock – of wanting to change the world and ourselves for the better. Now we’ve also got experience, wisdom, deep pockets, and a sense of new awakening. There should be gatherings galore about us and for us.”

The event has drawn some impressive women to speak and conduct workshops: Suzanne Braun Levine, the original editor of Ms. Magazine, Amy Ferris, author and co-playwright of Marrying George Clooney, Alice Barden, an actress and playwright who will perform Alice and Elizabeth’s One Woman Show on the opening night; Barbara Hannah Grufferman, author of The Best of Everything After 50; Jody Feagan, founder of the San Miguel Literary Festival; Cindy Joseph, a supermodel who started her career at age 49; Elizabeth Geitz, an Episcopal priest and author of I Am That Child; business coaches; dating and relationship experts; blogging and social media experts; and more. Over a dozen different workshops are being offered on everything from writing careers to social media to starting a business to finding love after 50. In addition, the women who attend will be able to schedule private one-on-one consultations with experts in various fields. A welcome party in the outdoor rotunda, dinner, and Barden’s one-woman show will kick off Women At Woodstock on opening night.

The cost is $595 for the program fee and between $565 and $895 for accommodations, depending on the type of room chosen. All meals, consultations, the opening party and the performance, plus a gift bag with tony goodies, are included in the price. Emerson Resort additionally will provide a 10% discount on all spa services reserved throughout the three-day event.

Bridget, the registration concierge, is available to assist with registrations for those who aren't comfortable with online purchases or would prefer to make their reservation by phone, or who would simply like to ask questions or arrange for a 3-installment payment plan.  She may be reached via email at bridget@womenatwoodstock.com or by calling 917-270-2351.  There is no charge for this service - and Bridget will apply an automatic  $50 discount to each reservation she books.
