De Doc - I am A Lion (music video ft Peter Ram)

Aug. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Despite being born in Guyana he was raised and educated in Brooklyn and then went on to continue his training in Florida, before relocating to Barbados in the Caribbean.  Dr Sparman immersed himself fully into West Indian life, not only setting up The Sparman Clinic; a state of the art interventional cardiac clinic, but also began chasing his passion for music.

Having tried his creative hand at many endeavours over the years, including; a stint as a stand-up comic in Miami, it was no surprise that music would take his fancy.  However, it was his love for Barbados and its flavourful West Indian culture that pushed him in the direction of calypso music.

Dr Alfred Sparman went under the performance name “De Doc” releasing a selection of calypso based singles, most of which he penned himself.  He performed on many occasions both in Barbados and Trinidad, associating with very well know calypso and SOCA artists including; Gabby, The SOCA All Stars and Peter Ram.  

This particular track was written in collaboration with famous Barbadian musician Gabby and produced by Darren Grant.  The track was entitled ‘I Am A Lion’ and was recorded and performed with another famous Barbadian musician - Peter Ram.  Peter Ram has been around on the SOCA music scene for years having released not only audio music tracks, but also music videos for his hoards of fans to enjoy. With this in mind ‘I Am A Lion’ was released not only as a single and as part of the album also titled ‘I Am A Lion’ but as a music video too, something which was rare back in 2005.

The ‘I Am A Lion’ album was released in 2005 and comprised of eleven tracks in total, which are available on line to listen to via You Tube (by searching for De Doc or viewing The Sparman Clinic You Tube page).

‘I Am A Lion’ features as the second track on the same titled album after an intro by De Doc himself.
