‘Van-tastic’ donation helps charity auction
Possibly one of the most desirable lots at CarFest South – a 1964 VW Spilt Screen Dormobile Campervan - will be auctioned with ALL the sale proceeds going to BBC Children in Need.
Silverstone Auctions, which is hosting the ‘Pride & Joy’ sale, will also donate the seller’s commission and buyer’s premium for this particular lot.
“Our thanks go to the vendor, Malcolm Railson, who has generously agreed to donate all of the sale proceeds from this fantastic camper to help Chris Evans raise as much money as possible for BBC Children in Need,” said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions.
The charity auction is just one of the highlights at CarFest South on 25th and 26th August at Jody Scheckter’s Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire, and CarFest North on 8th and 9th September at Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire.
The motoring extravaganza is the brainchild of TV and radio presenter and famous car nut Chris Evans, with proceeds from both weekends going to the good cause.
Other attractions at the family orientated event include a hill climb sprint, car gallery, live music, with headline acts Texas and Razorlight, along with weekend camping, a food festival and a unique head to head competition between 50 cake and pie makers.
“Silverstone Auctions is delighted to play a key role in CarFest to help raise lots of money for a very worthy cause. We’ve put together some fantastic cars for the sale, so I’d encourage visitors to dig deep in order to secure their very own pride and joy,” added Nick.
Day tickets for those wishing to bid on a car at CarFest can be obtained from Silverstone Auctions by calling 01926 691141. Alternatively, telephone and internet bidding will be live on the day or commission bids can be placed in advance of the event.
