Aug. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Come join us at the 3rd annual “A Fancy Feast’ Fundraiser benefitting Wild Blue Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (WBARS) a local nonprofit, no-kill shelter and the cats, dogs and horses we work to save.

The evening full of activities is being held on Fri, Aug 24th at the historic Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs. Festivities begin at 6pm with cocktail hour and a silent auction while enjoying the bluegrass music of local family band ‘The Wielands of Mass Destruction’.

Dinner will begin at 7:30pm, proceeded by the infamous WBARS Parade of Pets.

Dinner entertainment will be provided by world  renowned Jazz artist Louis Colaiannia.  More at: http://www.louismusic.com.

Last year the event raised nearly $5,000 and hosted over 100 guests. “This year we hope to raise $10,000 during the benefit to boost our ‘Spirit Fund’ for animal veterinary care and part of that money will go toward care for special needs kitties like Mariposa,” said Lauri Cross, Wild Blue Animal Rescue & Sanctuary Executive Director. “She came to the rescue in dire needs – 20 years old, blind, skinny and uncared for. We were able to find her a warm, safe home.”

Following dinner, guests will enjoy energetic live auction action lead by auctioneers, Bob and Debbie Gorman of Gorman Auctions. Some of the top items will include, AFA football tickets and autographed AFA helmets by Coach Troy Calhoun; autographed cartoon prints by Mutts creator, Patrick McDonnell;  a Michael Garman dog sculpture and a bronze limited-edition sculpture called ‘Life is a Cat-baret’ by artist Laurel Peterson Gregory (www. LaurelPetersonGregory.com).

“Our overarching need at WBARS is always funding for veterinary care,” continued Cross. “We are a no-kill shelter and every animal gets full vet care – regardless of the cost incurred. Mariposa was hospitalized for over 3 weeks. She endured eye surgery, treatment for mammary gland cancer and loads of medications. We are looking at veterinary costs of close to $2,000 just for one cat.”

“So far this year, we have rescued and placed 100 plus kittens out for adoption,” stated Cross. “There are a lot of little lives out there that need saving and that’s what we’re all about.”

Tickets to the event at $50 per person. Guests may also purchase 10-person tables at a discount of $475 or 8-person tables for $385. Purchase advanced tickets/tables or make other donations if you wish by going to wbars.fasttransact.net/Web/PaymentCodePayment.aspx  Individual reservations may be made by emailing Lauri Cross at lauri@wbars.org.
