Registration Open for Bastrop YMCA Fall Youth Programs

Registration is now open for fall Youth and Adult programs at the Bastrop YMCA.
 
Aug. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- (AUSTIN) Youth programs include soccer, kickball, dance, art and more. Adult programs include Co-Ed Kickball and Co-Ed Beach Volleyball. Interested persons may call 321-YMCA (9622) or visit www.BastropYMCA.org for more details or to register.
Fall programs include:

Youth Fall Soccer
Soccer is an exciting sport that combines team play and individual skills. During this season, children will learn sportsmanship values, the basic skills of the game, and team play. Every child is required to play at least half of every game. This sport is open to boys and girls, ages 4-5 & 6-7 years old. Practices are held weekly on Thursdays, games on Saturdays   (times TBA). The league runs from September 22 through October 27.
Registration fees are $$35 for YMCA Members and $75 for Non-Members. Registration is open until September 10.

Youth & Co-ed Adult Kickball  
A lot of feet and big kicks for all...the joy of recess lives on with Youth & Adult Kickball leagues!  Participants will get the opportunity to enjoy this fast-paced, action-packed and fun game while bonding with teammates and developing friendships.

For the kids – The league runs from September 17 through October 22, Monday evenings at 6:30pm & 7:30pm. Registration fees are $20 for YMCA Members and $30 for Non-Members. Registration is open until September 10.
For the adults - The league runs from October 7 through November 11, on Sundays from 6-8pm. Registration fees are $20 per person or $150 per team (minimum 12, max 15 players per team). Registration runs until September 26. This program is for ages 16 and older.

Adventure Hike and Scavenger Hunt
Kids ages 5-11 years old are invited to come along with the Y on an adventurous hike and scavenger hunt at Bastrop State Park. The hike will take place September 9, at 9am. Cost is $5 per person for YMCA members and $15 for Nonmembers. Registration runs through September 5.  
Kids will learn about native ecosystems and hike exciting trails at Bastrop State Park. Objects in nature such as plants, birds, and animals will be the focus of this exciting program. Participants should be prepared for lots of hiking and sightseeing. Registration for the Adventure Hike is open until September 5.

Kinder Dance
This 45-minute class for beginner boys and girls, ages 3-5 years-old, introduces basic movements and dance techniques, as well as creativity with movement and music. Classes take place from September 15 through October 27, on Saturdays, from 9-9:45am. Registration is open until September 13 and fees are $15 for YMCA Members and $30 for Non-Members.

Teen Night
The Bastrop YMCA gives teens a place to call their own, a safe environment for youth where they can find a balance between freedom and responsibility.
The Y will host a Teen Night on Thursday, August 16, from 7:45-9:45pm at the Bastrop State Park Pool. Teens are invited to swim, eat pizza, play water basketball and volleyball. The Y will also host best belly flop, cannonball and dive contests! Other games will also be included. Teens ages 11-15 can participate. Registration is open until August 15, and the fees are $5 for YMCA Members and $15 for Non-Members.

Family Scavenger Hunt
The Bastrop Y will host a Family Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, October 6, at Fisherman’s Park, beginning at 9am. Registration is open until October 1, and the event is free for YMCA Members and $15 for Non-Members.

Art With a Twist…“Pint-Size Picassos”
Parents and tots ages 2-5 will work together as a team to create colorful crafts and paint masterpieces of art! Children will be able to explore a variety of art materials and, at the same time, develop a relationship of friendship and trust with their parents. Classes run September 4-25 and take place every Tuesday, from 9-9:45am. Registration is open until September 1, fees are $10 for YMCA Members and $20 for Non-Members.

Art With A Twist… “Put Me In A Zoo”
Unlock the cages and bring out the brushes! It’s an imaginary trip to the zoo, where students learn to draw, sculpt and paint favorite zoo animals in a four-week session. Classes meet every Tuesday during the month of September (from Sept. 4-25), from 10:30-11:45am. Registration is open until September 1, and fees are $40 for YMCA Members and $80 for Non-Members.

Coed Adult Beach Volleyball
Adults can exercise and still have fun at the Y when participating in the Coed Adult Beach Volleyball! The games are played 6 versus 6, and teams should have a minimum 8 and a maximum of 12 players. Games take place on Thursdays, time TBA, from September 20 through October 25. Registration is open until September 15 for adults ages 16 and older; registration fee is $125 per team.

The Bastrop YMCA is a non-profit organization. Financial assistance if available, and, subject to available resources, no person will be denied membership or program participation due to inability to pay.
