School Sisters of St. Francis Offer Condolences After Sikh Temple Tragedy
Religious community prays for healing after six are killed by gunman
“On behalf of the School Sisters of St. Francis international congregation, we wish to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to all those who were affected by this morning’s tragic shooting at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, a neighboring community to our international motherhouse. Our prayers and thoughts are with those who were killed and injured, their families and loved ones, and all those in the Sikh community whose lives have been touched by this senseless act. We pray for their healing in body, mind, and spirit. We also offer our prayers of gratitude for the first responders who selflessly made the safety, health, and well-being of their neighbors their first priority.
“The vision of our international congregation is a world transformed through peace, justice, and love. During this difficult time, please join us in praying and working for the realization of this vision.”
The statement was released by the community’s international leadership team.
The School Sisters of St. Francis are an international community of Catholic sisters who unite with others to build a just and peaceful world.
