Aug. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- With thousands of inspired Brits now dreaming of Olympic careers, kids have a chance to create their own Chariots of Fire moment at the UK's first Human Race Festival of Sport, to be held at Marazion in Cornwall this September. Against the magnificent backdrop of St Michael’s Mount, little Olympians are far from forgotten with a special ‘Mini-thon’ featuring a raft of fun, competitive activities throughout the three day event.

Culminating in an 800 meters Children’s Beach Race, held along the Marazion Mount’s Bay Beach, this could be the start of a lifetime love of sport for many participants.
All too often more serious sports events only concentrate on the adult competitors however organisers of the Human Race Festival of Sport have taken a completely different tack, creating a three day extravaganza mix for people of all ages, and of all levels of sporting prowess.  And kids are right at the front of the planning with sandcastle building, treasure hunts and a circus bungee, amongst other activities.

Held in Mount's Bay in West Cornwall, September 14th - 16th 2012, the Human Race Festival of Sport will welcome competitors of all abilities to the South West to participate in this exciting new destination event. Consisting of a high-octane combination of triathlon, sportive cycling (long distance cycling road race), Open Water Swimming and a Beach Run as well as live music and beach sports, the events are situated over some of the most stunning coastal landscape of the St Aubyn Estates and against the beautiful scenery around St Michael's Mount.

For adults looking to take part in the main event and bring the kids, or for families keen to watch the competitors sweat, the Children's Festival Pass is £10 for under 16s (as of 14th September 2012) but free for under 12s (as of 14th September 2012) and will include entry to all elements of the weekend other than the Core Sports.
The free of charge children’s activities are:

•   800m Children’s Beach Run – a run open to all under-16s from the Mount to the Festival Hub Sandcastle Building Competition
•   Treasure Hunt
•   Face Painting
•   Drawing and Painting Area
•   Circus Bungee

England rugby legends, Will Greenwood and Austin Healy said, "We have already signed up to be part of the triathlon team relay. We will be down for the weekend with our families and will challenge anyone to take on the SST (Super Skills Travel) team.  It should be a huge amount of fun."

Wings for Life is the official charity and competitors will be encouraged to fundraise for their ground breaking spinal cord injury research. The charity will be providing training tips and bringing along some of their well-known supporters from the world of sport. Alongside the main sporting activities, the Festival of Sport - Cornwall will deliver entertainment for both participants and visitors alike.  Highlights will include live music and entertainment, such as British Rock band, Reef, best known for their number 1 smash hit "Place your hands" and English Folk Rock band, Dry the River. Locally sourced food by Jamie Oliver Catering, a beer tent and bar by Cornwall's award-winning independent family brewers, St Austell Brewery, a Sporting Expo and renowned keynote speakers including sports nutritionalists, trainers and physiologists.

In addition, there will be sporting activity of a more relaxed nature with Touch Rugby, Gig Rowing, Beach Volleyball, and Paddleboarding all on offer.  As with all good festivals, camping and showers will be a big feature and will be set-up no further than 100m away from the main site.
